unable to get out of S mode in Windows
I bought this laptop because it had Windows 10 so I could download firefox, The laptop immediately updated to Windows 11, no way to stop it. I am locked out of my microsoft account, have been for years. How do I get firefox downloaded ?
Solution choisie
I will say this as long story short-you can't get away from MS or Google regardless they are embedded into internet world and everyone compares themselves or make software that runs their extensions. So one can say they hate but then again we use them regardless. I have Windows 10 and do my customization or some changes and have full control of it. And remember if you need software compatiblity everyone makes it easier to use MS products so if you plan to use or run command one needs to know the in/outs of Linux aka UNIX command system. Even if they have a a GUI it's not the same as Windows itself. So be forewarn about this. Know what your getting yourself into before you get into it and do your homework.

Thanks for the replies but they don’t resolve the issue. Anything that involves contacting either the Microsoft Store or the Microsoft Corporation won’t work. First step is always to sign in to my account and I get an auto message saying something failed and to try on a browser that fails as well and I’m given a form to fill out. It takes weeks to get a reply and it never gets unlocked. I think maybe having somebody else sign into their account on my computer might have worked well enough to get it out of S but there might have been additional roadblocks. So I just returned it and will buy a refurbished one with no OS installed and load it with Ubuntu. Thanx for replies !
Again, thanks for the replies. and yes the issue is with Microsoft, not Firefox or moz://a. And a good example of why I detest Microsoft to begin with, they try to portray this S crap as a benign service they are performing to protect people from downloading bogus apps while in reality it's designed to prevent people from using competitors apps. I have only used their stuff as an OS for years and nothing more and that just because so many things are designed to run on Windows. But I'm not going to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get an operating system. As I said above I have returned that laptop and will purchase one with no OS installed and use Ubuntu as the OS. Microsoft & Google are Evil and I am getting as far away from them as possible.
Thank you ! I'm fairly familiar with Linux/Ubuntu having used it on a previous laptop. And it is different and sometimes I have to run back to my current PC which is Windows 10 and pretty much protected to stay that way. And you are correct about no avoiding MS or Google, I'm retired ATT center technician and know all too well the many fingers they have on the controls. Mainly I just try to avoid them as much as possible and more than anything try to keep from giving them money directly. But they make money off of all of us and anyone not realizing that is kidding themselves. great advice tho !
