This is the problem I have now. I have two PC,s, a main desktop PC and a laptop, which I don't use often and where the Firefox has an outdated bookmarks on it. Now somehow my PC removed my actual bookmarks and replace it with the one old one from my laptop, (which I just used for the last two days). This is a huge problem! You need to offer a setting where you set a main PC and the other one to sync upon the main PC settings and not opposite! All my important and up to date bookmarks are now gone! and I am stuck with years old bookmarks on the main PC! Is there maybe a way to restore the bookmarks on the main PC and why does Firefox even overwrite new with old in the first place!??

Firefox keeps backup of the bookmarks in the bookmarkbackups folder.

The name of an automatically created JSON bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once. You also see this count in the Restore menu drop-down list.

  • bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.
