Add webpage shortcut to home page
On my Samsung S7+ tablet, I recently uninstalled FireFox Nightly. I then installed FireFox from the Google play store. Problem is that when FireFox Nightly was uninstalled, all my homepage URL shortcuts went away.
I thought, OK not a major problem because I had all these websites book marked and it would be simple to pull up the web page and then on the 3-dot menu, select “add to homepage”. Well, nothing can be that simple.
The “add to homepage” option was available and worked as I remember it had worked in the past. However, some of the websites did not offer “add to homepage”. Instead, what was offered was “Install”. While this would put a shortcut on the home screen, there was no opportunity to name the shortcut. I “installed” several different websites, all with the same name and icon.
I also noticed that when I opened one of these shortcuts, the web page would display but there was no evidence (menu or search bar, etc.) that it was opened in FireFox.
See the attached jpg for a side-by-side comparison of the 3 dot menu for the differences.
Does anyone have a suggestion to how to have “add to homepage” for all URLs?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi
Some web pages (for example Twitter) have an almost "app like" experience without the elements of a web browser. I think they are a little faster and provide a slightly better experience.
That said, if you do just want to add a shortcut to the page, add the shortcut when the page is loading, not when it is finished opening in Firefox for Android. That should give you a link that opens the page in Firefox for Android.
I hope that this helps.
Never could get Seburo suggestion to work.
After researching for several days on the web, the problem is that FireFox and most browsers allow PWAs to take precedence over what the user might want. I am really disappointed that FireFox does not have a way to disable or ignore PWAs.
I finally had to use Chrome for these specific website URLs because Chrome still let me edit the name of the shortcut.
Really diassapointed with FireFox and Mozilla
Hi
Thank you for your feedback.
I would like to submit a feature request for this, but to help me with this - why would you prefer to have the option to not add sites as links rather than PWA? Why is this better for you?
Seburo, I prefer the ability to access the website as a browser website but the main reason is that there is no way in FireFox to edit the name of the icon shortcut installed. That is why I had to use Chrome, even though it also only offered to install, Chrome let me edit the name.
Thank you for offering to submit a feature request. :)
Hi
Okay, thank you. I have raised this and you can follow progress and add comments at https://github.com/mozilla-mobile/fenix/issues/21144
