Thunderbird wanted to reboot so I let it. Now its stuck in a constant reboot loop. I've tried doing a Windows safe mode but that didn't work. Any help please.
Thunderbird just won't run since the last update. It just gives a message indicating "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Thunderbird. Do you want to reboot now?" After 4 hours of constantly restarting my computer I have given up.
I am hesitant about uninstalling and then reinstalling because I don't want to lose my existing data.

You probably won't lose your data, but it may take a few steps to make TB recognize it as before. One simple step that often corrects a faulty update is to close TB, open the profile folder, located at
C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\8charstring.default
(AppData is hidden by default)
and delete the global-messages-db.sqlite file. It will be automatically rebuilt on restart of TB. Does TB open normally?

Many thanks for getting back to me, but I had managed to fix it before receiving your reply. I eventually copied my profile just incase anything went wrong and attempted to uninstall Thunderbird using Windows uninstall. This didn't work so I used a program called "IObit Uninstaller" instead. This took quite a while to carry out as I had to uncheck various files that were left behind during the process. I then rebooted my computer and reinstalled Thunderbird which proved successful and went on like a dream. Your email was there waiting.
So once again thank you for your response.
Bontboy.
