Toolbar changes from show 20+ to showing only 12
Firefox 60.0.2 64 bit , Latest Win 10
Problem started today The toolbar changes from showing 20+ to only 12 folders and links
Did complete wipe out of Firefox uninstalled , remove all Mozilla folders Ran Revo uninstaller and %APPDATA% to remove all traces , disabled all add ons
Started with a Clean Firefox ? Used Mozback up from yesterday to restore back to what I want , still reverts back after a short while
See attached images

Hmm, that's strange. There's a huge gap between the last displayed folder and the "overflow" menu icon at the far right? Much bigger than needed to fit the first item on the menu?
Does it help at all to resize that window (for example, if it's maximized, make it resizable and shrink it to force Firefox to redistribute items on the bar) or hide and then show the bar again?
If you are actually losing bookmarks from the Toolbar, that's bad. Do you use Sync?

Thanks for your reply
I'm/was actually losing bookmarks from the Toolbar,
that's bad. = yes
Do you use Sync? NO ,I use Mozbackup and I download the bookmarks HTML& JSON So I had back ups
I finally again deleted Everything and Started anew just imported a HTML backup Still setting thing back to how I had it but I have photos and links of everything so it just takes time
It is holding for the last couple of hours .
Strange I tried restoring only the bookmarks from Mozbackup did Not work
Thanks again
I think it could be your userChrome.css could also be part of the problem. What your showing isn't the default setup.
WestEnd thanks for the reply
I don't understand what/how a 'userChrome.css ' can affect a Firefox problem .
Can you please explain ?
= What your showing isn't the default setup.""
My images are the long one has been working for years the short one is what happens after just a few minutes of Firefox being open(Even in Safe Mode)
What is the default setup?
Did you check the length of the name of the first item in the overflow drop-down list? If that name is very long then it might not fit in the available space. You can edit the properties via the right-click context menu to shorten a long name.

Unfortunately the problem is not with any overflow.
I've had the 20 items on the bookmark toolbar for years All of a sudden yesterday after I had Firefox opened for more than a hr. with 20+folders it started showing the 12 folders ,after restoring via Mozbackup I actually saw it go from 20 to 12 folders
So the bookmarks that you are losing is the Most Visited and everything after it.
Does it make a difference if you move that Most Visited "Smart folder" to the right? IOW, do the missing bookmarks now appear?
Perhaps there is a problem with your Places file. In Help > Troubleshooting Information (about:support) scroll down to Places Database > Integrity and use the Verify Integrity button.
Read the results of the verification process and post the output here. Did that restore / show the missing bookmarks?

"n Help > Troubleshooting Information (about:support) scroll down to Places Database > Integrity and use the Verify Integrity button."
That is a great Idea Unfortunately I used the method [I finally again deleted Everything and Started anew just imported a HTML backup Still setting thing back to how I had it but I have photos and links of everything so it just takes time] So I can no long check and see if that was a solution.

Nothing I did restored the missing bookmarks{Except a Full clean install as above}
Do the automatically created compressed .jsonlz4 backups in the bookmarkbackups folder show a drop in the item cont?
The name of an automatically created JSON bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder includes a total item count (folders and separators included) and an hash value to prevent saving the same backup more than once. You also see this count in the Restore menu drop-down list.
- bookmarks-YYYY-MM-DD_<item count>_<hash>.jsonlz4.

You have some great ideas/suggestion.Thanks for taking the time trying to help with this.
When I did a Refresh > Help > Start with ad-ons disabled > Refresh and when I did a uninstall of Firefox when I reinstalled it only the 12 folders were there Not my usual 20
= "jsonlz4" O have some of these jsoniz4 in my "Old Firefox Data ' that was made during one of muy uninstalls , but I don't know what to open them with , any help ?
The lz4 on the end indicates the files were compressed with Mozilla's flavor of LZ4 compression. I have a decompressor here:

Thanks for the follow up
= " I have a decompressor here:"
This decompressor web will be a big help . I looked at the HTML file it only backed up the 12 folders
