The previous update had issues showing only partial websites, but that seems to be fixed.

Note that Firefox 47 is a 32-bit version and Firefox 59 a 64-bit Firefox version, so they are in different locations installed if at all still present and this isn't an orphaned registry entry.

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Is that an old screenshot because you seem to have the current release (59.0.2) and not 59.0.1 that shows in the screenshot

Is the problem fixed? If not;

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.

Thanks for the super fast response. So this is an isolated error then? I was hoping not to have to go to those extremes, but thanks again!

Sometimes, when installing the full version, the old is left behind. But the shortcuts created should only go to the newly installed Firefox. But not any manually made shortcuts.

Firefox comes in two or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

These aren't in the folders, this is in the Add/Remove programs on Windows 10 and I've noticed it happened on a 2nd computer as well. I rolled the 2nd computer back to Windows 7 and did a clean install and it's fine.

Although, I just checked the folders and they are duplicated. It looks like the 32 bit was updated with the 1/29/18 update, and the 64 bit was added with the 3/29/18 update. The Maintenance Service is still under the 32 bit folders. There are some .chk files in the 32 bit, so maybe it crashed. In any case, if it's an isolated incident I can deal with it. I just wanted to let you guys know in case it wasn't.

I have Firefox setup to auto update, so the issues came from auto update.

After I noticed the duplicate versions, I think that I tried to update with a new downloaded copy, the new version without uninstalling first, so that's where the new version probably came from.

The Firefox issue was that Windows 10 was not able to uninstall the 32 bit version, so I used Revo Uninstaller to uninstall the 32 bit version. It's resolved now.
