Complete eradication of firefox 57
Seven times I have uninstalled firefox57 and reloaded 56 ... seven times I restarted firefox56 and it has reverted to 57.
How do I fully, completely and ultimately eradicate and remove the screwed-up firefox57?
OS is Windows7-Ultimate64.

How about looking at these 2 URL's first : https://www.howtogeek.com/333110/how-to-customize-firefox-quantum-and-remove-the-white-space-around-the-title-bar/ and The name is not descriptive enough : https://www.howtogeek.com/332449/whats-new-in-firefox-quantum/
More information will come out slowly. (see far below) New extensions are being made and some older ones being updated that are tracked here : http://bit.ly/2j0Anlj
Here's a more comprehensive project which affects not only tabs but brings back the old "grid-style" options menu. https://github.com/axydavid/FirefoxUI/blob/master/README.md
It isn't completely possible to use the Australis design with Firefox 57, but depending on what you want, you might be able to customize the UI to look more like the old one: This project: https://github.com/wilfredwee/photon-australis lets you have the old tab bar appearance back in Firefox 57. You can remove the space around the address bar by right-clicking on the spaces, and choosing "remove from toolbar".
Note the Black Theme is just a Example and can be found in Customize.
Please uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles
Going back : unfortunately 56.0.2 is no longer safe to use for every day use, but 52.5.0 ESR is! It will continue to get security updates until May 2018, and you can download and install it from this page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Note : Legacy Extensions will be deleted or removed in any version update after May 2018.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
I followed ALL of the links provided ... All but 1 I had already checked out and it tells me less then the others do and none of them tell me how to correct the problems that I am having.
Back to ... TOTAL ERADICATION of Firefox57 from my computer. How / what do I have to do???
Forget it ... I'm reformatted my computer ... maybe I'll try some other browser.
This makes 3rd version of Firefox that started out being a load of SHIT!!! At least the other two had ways to make them look and act the way we wanted them to.
It's such a shame that Firefox/Mozilla has gotten so BAD that this sort of thing has to be done.
download FF from here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/all/ Unplug the network/wiFi. Uninstall FF57, Install the old one. In Firefox settings, deactivate automatic update. Plug in network/WiFi again. I guess after a few weeks or months there will be a bugfixed version 57.5 or so..., so check regularly until the end of 2018.

Having been through the agony of FF57 and reverting to 56 to be able to get any productivity, I thought maybe this suggestion of 52.5.0ESR might be the way to go until FF57 is truly ready to be allowed out in public.
I have always had FF configured to reopen with "tabs from last session", as far back as I can remember (and I used FF2.0.0.20 and earlier). Installed 52.5.0ESR only to find a dozen current tabs were nowhere to be seen, instead a collection from three months ago. A warning that such settings would be clobbered would be nice.
I should add that the reversion from 57 to 56 retained all the previous version/session tabs.

Select Never Check For Updates.
Also turn off Use a background service to install updates
If Mozilla can provide those security updates going forward for 52.5.0ESR, begs the question why they can't do the same for 56 - the last sane version before the ghastly quantum transformation.

Because 56 isn't an ESR version and making 56 an ESR release would screw up the sequence of ESR major releases, for "organizations" - what ESR is made for. The ESR major version release schedule is setup a year or more in advance; mess with that and you defeat the original purpose of ESR.
So I'm stuck between the quantum mangled 57 or 52.5.0ESR which is now locking up several times a day? Or taking a punt and going back to 56. What a choice.
