A javascript install demand suddenly popped up on my wife's PC while she was checking a Gmail account. The ".net" website stated in the install demand is unrecognized by either of us, was never accessed from her PC to our knowledge, and cannot be found by a Google search. The install demand appears to be from Mozilla/Firefox yet doesn't behave in the manner of previous Firefox update requests.

A screenshot of the install demand is attached. Is this install demand legitimate and should I allow the javascript file to be installed?

Hi   jurrubin,

Good for you not to fall for this   !
It's a fake:   Firefox will always update from within the browser and not from a random webpage. Scammers use this tactic,  trying to get users to download and infect their computer. Hard to get rid off,   as they will change their URL on a daily basis.
You could consider an add-on blocking extension, such as:
http://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/addon/ublock-origin
Thank you for reporting this   !
Please see the article:   I found a fake Firefox update.
