Under HISTORY how can I get back a simple list of web page visits instead of a heading only able to open all pages?

more options

Until Wed 27.4.2016 clicking History at Foot of a new window yielded options (Today, Yesterday, last 7d &c). Selecting one displayed the full list of web pages visited then. Now I get just one heading which when clicked offers to open all those pages? How do I get back to the webpages list?

PC = WINDOWS 97 Prof. on FIREFOX

Is this in the history sidebar?

In that case you can click the View button next to the search bar to see the current setting. Displaying by Date & Site should give you the Today and Yesterday format.

If there is only history from Today and not older history then this older history might have been deleted.

Thanks for such a speedy reply - never expected!

A ‘sidebar’ as such is not showing, only a pop-up like part of Windows Explorer – see graphic.

Clicking on the “Today” (or other time) just offers to open each webpage in it.

This should enable you to pinpoint the cause.

That is the History Manager (Library) window.

If you select an item in the left pane then you will see a list of items that match that filter. That is how the Library works.

To see a list ordered by date and site you would have to use the history sidebar instead.

  • "View History Sidebar" in the "Show your history" drop-down list or "View > Sidebar > History"

You can consider to move this button out of the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list to the Navigation Toolbar. There is also a Sidebars button in the Customize palette.

Is that also what you see when you right-click Today? When I right-click any of those entries, there is a short context menu, and the top item is Open All in Tabs.

I'm not sure what could cause Firefox to think a left click is a right click. This could be a glitch in the signals Windows is sending Firefox, or it could be a problem in Firefox. Exiting and restarting is what I would try if there is no "rational" explanation for it.

"You are about to open 28 tabs. This might slow down Firefox while the pages are loading. Are you sure you want to continue?"

This is all it offers me.

Before, it always presented a LIST only, then I could select which if any I wanted to revisit. This is my main need A tall sidebar of some kind/name offering access to visited sites was for years on my preious browser(s) always presented.

The whole format of the pop-up, or whetever, is different from what it has been for months. Has F'fox updated somehing?.

Thank you, jscher2000 for your quick response. Ricardi

Oh... I assumed you were clicking Today in the left column. I can get that message box if I middle-click Today in the right column using the mouse wheel.

Firefox seems to be confused about your left click thinking it's a middle click. As a temporary workaround, could you click Today in the left column for now, and test the right column again after you've finished your Firefox session so you can exit out and start up Firefox again?
