It's not getting email while it is open
I open Thunderbird and it retrieves email from Godaddy. I can reply to all of the emails. This is my work email and I usually leave it open, because we need to respon very quickly.
Thunderbird is not getting any new emails while it is open. I have gone over all of the settings with Godaddy and no dice.
What do i need to do to get it to get new mail while it is open?

First, I don't know the answer and I can't help you from personal experience because Godaddy isn't my email provider. Second, there have been many postings here in the last few weeks from Godaddy customers who report the same behaviour: the connection works fine when Thunderbird starts and then no new mail appears; to get further new mail they have to close and restart Thunderbird. Third, all the recent postings I have seen which report this behaviour and which identify the email provider say it's Godaddy, so it appears to be an issue that mostly affects that company. Fourth, it's clearly not a problem with Thunderbird as such since there is a long thread here reporting exactly the same problem with the Apple email client: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6036404?tstart=0 As far as I can work out from postings here and discussion in that thread, the issue seems to arise particularly when people have several Godaddy accounts and large numbers of stored emails. When you leave Thunderbird open it constantly checks whether new mail has arrived, and there is speculation that the server refuses to respond when too many requests are made. So you could try reducing the frequency of those checks to (say) once every 30 mins, and you could try turning off the checks on all accounts except one: you will see that a user on the Apple forum reports success with that approach. However none of this is offering you a solution, and I haven't found one posted anywhere yet.
Thanks for looking and the information.
unfortunately I cannot lessen the amount of mail stored (required to keep x amount by the state), and Thunderbird is only checking 1 email.
I just tried Outlook, and got the same result.
Please let me know if any solution pops.
Thanks
This is not a solution but it is clinching evidence that the GoDaddy server isn't working properly: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1260724#c10 I don't understand all the server traffic myself, but the person who posted that info clearly does. Maybe if you and other GoDaddy customers confront them with that evidence they will stop saying 'it's Thunderbird's fault'!
