When Version 44 loads, it will let me use a mouse, but when i try and type something, it turns it's self off. It dosent register this as a crash and It's done this with 2 different keyboards. if i tell v43 not to update yet, when i restart firefox, v44 has installed itself, so i've turned the updates off. At least i can use a mouse on my main computer, on my 2nd computer, V44 wont even startup, even if i manually update it from a site. v43 on that computer, wont run the adobe flashplayer. I havent shared any data (the below green button) as there isnt a problem with v43, on this computer.

Okay, first let's work on getting Firefox working. Never mind anything else.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

Brilliant, Fred, thanks loads. As you can see, it worked. I had uninstalled it and downloaded it from my usual place (filehippo), then installed it, but didnt think of the registry scanner bit ....... Thanks again ..... B-)

P.S. can you help with the Flashplayer problem, or should i post that as a seperate problem?

You can try to uninstall and reinstall Flash.

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and hardware acceleration in Firefox and try this:

Great to hear. What about your other problems?

on my other computer, Firefox v44 won't even start-up and doesn't like the new adobe flash player. I'll try the complete fresh install, like you suggested above to cure the start-up problem, but will that cure the flash player problem? ..... B-)

P.S. I've tried the uninstalling/re-installing thing on both those programs, but again, without the registry cleaner bit

without the registry cleaner

If there is a bad entry, it might cause trouble.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

While still in Safe Mode,

At the moment, it seems the problem is solved ..... just after i sent my last message, i thought, well what ever your reply is, i've got to put v44 back on, so i might as well do it, the way i just have on my 1st tower. Did that, then without thinking, instead of clicking on IE to come here, force of habit, i clicked on Firefox and it fired up 1st time .... an added bonus is, i dont seem to have the secondary problem with the flash player either ... (touch wood). If i do, i'll keep your advice above handy, but at the moment, it looks like you've struck gold again ........ thank you very much for all your help Fred, your a star ........ B-)
