Had Thunderbird on Win7; upgraded to Win10, no prob; had to buy new PC, native Win10; now Passwords won't store!
Old laptop native Win7. Had Thunderbird; liked it. Upgraded to Win10; TB worked great. Old laptop dying; had to get new one: native Win10. Installed TB; Transferred profile from old laptop to new. No matter how many times I enter the passwords to my several email accounts, they are not stored--and, yes, I check the box to "Use Password Manager to...." each and every time. This is infuriating! Also, approx. half the time, even when I enter the password it still won't [send the email|dowload the email|whatever else I was trying to do].

That sounds very anti virus like, and I bet the new box comes with a new anti virus that you "just had to have" The selection of which is based solelyon who pays the manufacturer the most to pre install their product.
Anything likely here ?
It did come with McAfee installed. I uninstalled McAfee after I installed TB. Would it have soured the install? If so, I could copy the profile to the desktop, reinstall, and replace the default profile with my saved one. Would that fix it?

It might. some of these things are just guesses, sometime poor ones sometime good ones. What you might do, if you have defender running is exclude the Thunderbird process from that. Some folk have reported success with Win10 issues by doing so.
