I have received emails from Firefox as recently as May 2014.

I changed the password in mid February 2014 and have a record of that

I attempted to update Firefox as prompted on June 20, 2014.

I was requested to log in.

I forgot my user name

I sent the request for my user name and received confirmation that an email had been sent to any account using [email protected]. I did this twice and have not received anything from Mozilla or Firefox.

Help please.

Thank you

What we like to know is what account you mean for Firefox.

Firefox doesn't require to log in to an account to be able to work.

Do you mean a name and password for Firefox Sync?

Current Firefox versions use a Firefox account to connect to Sync and that is different than Sync previously worked. See:

If you really mean a password to start Firefox then you should uninstall (remove) this version and download and install the official Firefox release from the Mozilla server.

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.

  • Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.

Remove the Firefox program before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.

What account are you talking about?

This is what I received May 22, 2014. I have been getting teh newsletters for a long time at this email address.

I installed Firefox on this computer when I purchased it in February 2013 and was able to transfer my bookmarks so I assume I have an account

So it seems you're talking about a Juno email account.

I have received emails from Firefox

Firefox is not sending you any emails.

I attempted to update Firefox as prompted

Good. But what has this got to do with your email account?

I was requested to log in.

That's the way it is.

I forgot my user name

That's unfortunate, but there is nothing anyone reading your post here can do about it. You'll need to contact Juno.

I did this twice and have not received anything from Mozilla or Firefox.

You may receive something from Juno. You certainly won't receive anything from Mozilla or Firefox. Neither Mozilla nor Firefox are your email provider.

Thanks. I think I understand where the communication broke down

I don't use Sync because my computer is the only device on which I use Firefox and I don't have anything to synchronize with/to. I didn't realize that the password was only for Sync.

As a kindness, is there a place which is essentially Computers for Dummies? Most everything assumes a familiarity with terms that I lack.

Regardless, I think I understand what to do and not do.
