Firefox crashed. When I opened it up again, it was gone - everything FF was gone.
Firefox crashed when I was in a location with no internet. I got the message, but knew I could do nothing about it. When I got home to open it up, it was gone. Entirely gone.
My browser went to the Mozilla page and I was invited to "try out Firefox!"
I attempted to log in. I was not recognized. (BTW, I created ANOTHER account with the exact same information as before.)
I had to download everything again. Apparently what I had on my computer was entirely gone, because the Mozilla site had to download the whole shebang again.
Now besides all the missing tabs (yippee), I have also lost vast amounts of security processes that I'd added to FF, making it the best, safest browser I've ever used.
So... what happened, and why the hell did Firefox crash and VANISH, taking all of my security settings with it?

Hi,
Please note that creating a Windows account with the exact same name and password would never replicate a previous account in Windows. Firefox also uses the Windows user accounts to store and isolate personal data and settings. When a new Windows account is created and Firefox is started in that, a new personal, private Firefox data folder unique to that Windows account is also created. Please see Firefox Profile Folder and Firefox Profile Files
You can try to gain entry into the previous user account's Firefox profile folder in Windows Explorer and copy that to the Profiles folder in this user account. Next, start the Profile Manager > Create Profile > Next > Choose Folder, choose this copied folder > Finish and Start Firefox. Hopefully the previous personal data and add-ons will be restored.
Unfortunately, this is all pretty far beyond me. I've now spent hours trying to recreate what I had, so I'm not sure what any of this will do. I'm not very tech savvy at all.
And actually, my primary goal was finding out if this has happened to others before and how I can avoid it happening. If I have to do this again, I'll throw FF out the window and go back to Chrome.
Thank you for taking the time to answer! I wish it hewed closer to what I need, but it's great that you did it.
