The crashes are very frequent; often when I download something it freezes, and it has to be closed with CTRL+ALT+CANC (not with just "close windows"). Also very often it starts to visualize its content flashing or partially (or both ways) so it has to be closed. Also very often the window grows by itself and hide the Windows lower bar; other times the window is very small and cannot be resized in any way.

Are you watching videos when you have the crashes with downloading ?

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting for changes to take effect.

You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.

@FredMcD: tomorrow I will do the RAM test, thanks. But it has to be noted that most of the times the browser doesn't crash (so there is no report), but I am forced to close it because it becomes unusable.

@cor-el: no, but maybe there might be a Youtube page open with a video not playing.

You will need a thumb or disk drive to install it on.

Sorry, what's a "thumb"? I was going to install it in a USB drive but it says that it will delete its content and I can't allow it, and right now I don't have an empty USB drive...is there an alternative?

A "thumb" drive is a USB drive. They are cheap these days.

I did this, in the meantime, and...restarting Firefox it didn't work anymore! Actually the window opens but "in flashes" (I don't know how to describe, but it's just portions of the window and when I go there with the arrow, it disappears)...any help? If I have to reinstall it, please let me know how to save all the pages that were open in the last session.

Reboot the computer.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link}

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-download-and-install-firefox-mac

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it. See Install Firefox on Linux; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/install-firefox-linux

If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory. http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Look for, and remove any Mozilla or Firefox program folders. Do not remove the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

Do Not remove any profile folders.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If there is a problem, start your Computer in safe mode and try again.
