Set firefox to never update - it updated automatically anyhow - how do I stop it from doing that?
I set firefox to automatically update yesterday, which it did properly. Then I set it to NEVER update, because I do NOT want the upcoming Nov. 14th update as it will make most of the add-ons I rely on no longer work. Those add-ons are the ONLY reason I keep using firefox. Firefox just updated automatically again anyhow. How do I make it stop the automatic updates before Nov. 14th??!! Note, I do NOT have the "use background service to install updates" checked either. The ONLY thing selected in the update section is to NEVER update. Please help!!

Three ways that Firefox can check for an update. The first 2 you have covered, the preferences you mentioned.
If you happen to open Help > About Firefox - Firefox will check for updates and automatically download the update. Next launch of Firefox and the update will be installed.
So make sure you don't open About Firefox.
Thanks for the reply! It's possible that I may have checked my firefox version with "help" - but I'm not sure. Regardless, why the heck would they make it do that? It's absurd - and how are we supposed to check which version we're on WITHOUT triggering an automatic update?
Is there any way I can even be sure that was the cause before the nov. 14th major update? I do NOT want that update.
I've used firefox for ages, but have to admit I'm getting more and more frustrated with it's performance getting worse and worse with updates rather than better... and now the upcoming major update will make the majority of key add-ons no longer even work, when they're the main reason for sticking with firefox. :-( What a shame.
Ok, HOW do you get to where you can change this bloody automatic upload default? In a couple hours of dealing with an auto update that rendered the computer useless until Firefox was COMPLETELY removed and reloaded (NOT one of the suggested "cures" for the according to this "service" non-existent error code btw)
