I have a lot of duplicated files in Firefox folder & my Firefox/Updater folder, so is it OK to delete the duplicated files to make room on C drive?

I need to make room on my C Drive, so when I did a search for all recently installed files, applications etc., I noticed that I have a lot of duplicated application extensions in Mozilla Firefox folder and my Mozilla Firefox/Updated folders in my Program Files.. The .dll files in the Updated folder were installed on a later date. My question is - do I need both sets of these Application Extensions or can I delete one set in order to get back some space on my C Drive?

What specific locations are you referring about?

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder. The main profile is in "AppData\Roaming".

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

A second location in "AppData\Local" is used for the disk cache and other temporary files.

  • C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

What you could do is buy an external hard drive, and move rarely used and very large files (movies) there.

If you have more than one Firefox profile, think about removing the others. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles

You can use the "Choose folder" button to create the Firefox profile folder on another drive. You need to create this folder on beforehand before starting the Profile Manager and never use a folder that already contains other files.
