I am trying to restore my bookmarks to an earlier one. I no longer see that date available.
I performed a factory reset on my computer, after reinstalling firefox I set up the sync and everything came back. I deleted the wrong bookmark and when I restored it again it gave me the default bookmarks and thats it.

hello, maybe the places.sqlite file in your file you're trying to restore to got corrupted.
go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information, click on profile folder/show folder and close all firefox windows afterwards. a windows explorer window should open up - in there rename/delete the file named places.sqlite (this will also remove your history though). then restart the browser and try to restore one of the backups again...
Hi, sir, if you will apply factory settings that mean you are just want to apply those settings which are added default. So thats why when you reset firefox ,it apply its default settings in which bookmarks are also added. but if you want any more information about syncing , go here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync
Thank you for responding, I tried Sourjobraato Banerjee suggestion and It game me all the default bookmarks. To respond to bablushaw23 I had my browser synced with the Mozilla servers before I restored my computer, when I first installed Firefox I set up the sync again and all my bookmarks came back. I accidentally deleted the wrong bookmark and when I tried to restore my bookmarks again, it deleted them all and gave me the default ones.
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.
Enter the bookmarkbackups folder. This is where Firefox makes backups of your bookmarks. Look for the jsonlz4 file you want to restore (check the time / date / size). Right click on that file and select Copy. Now go back to the profile folder where you started. Rename the file places.sqlite by adding .old to it. Now right click in the folder and select Paste. The file you just pasted here, rename it to places.sqlite. After you are done, restart Firefox.
Thank you FredMcD for the add-on ideas. As far as getting my bookmark back, I tried your suggestion and my bookmarks didn't change from my current ones. The file name I changed from was bookmarks-2014-12-13_9_4KcyxM4no9wCkgLvfykAkg==.jsonlz4 to places.sqlite. Nothing changed.
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
