How do I correct the problem causing the following error message which prevents Firefox from opening: 'The instruction at "0x10008d37" referenced memory at "0xffffffff". The memory could not be "read".'?
Please note the 'quote' above. That is the error message I receive. It asks me to click 'OK' to terminate the program, or click 'Cancel' to debug the program. Either button I click terminates the program.

-> Uninstall Firefox from your computer - Uninstall your current Firefox
- DO NOT SELECT TO REMOVE USER DATA AND SETTINGS
- Restart your system
-> Download latest Firefox version from one of these links using some other Web Browser:

Check and tell if its working.
I had tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox 7.0.1 once before, but I decided to give it another go, based on your advice.
It is still giving me the exact same error message.
What's next?
-> Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
Check and tell if its working.
I tried starting Firefox in Safe Mode, which i could do by holding down the shift key while clicking to start. Same error message - no start.
I canot try any of the other options which begin:
"At the top of the Firefox window, click..."
The Firefox window simply does not open.
Now what?
-> Start Firefox in Safe Mode by holding down SHIFT key while starting Firefox
- As an alternative method, use Win + R key combination and enter one of the following in the Windows Run box:
- firefox -safe-mode
- "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode
-> Firefox Safe Mode window will appear -> DON'T SELECT ANY OPTIONS, just click Continue in Safe Mode
-> Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
Check and tell if its working.

I get the error message while Firefox starts in the background. If I move the error message box out of the way, I can click on "continue in safe mode." However, the moment I click on OK or Cancel, I lose Firefox.
-> Now Completely Uninstall Firefox
- REMOVE USER DATA AND SETTINGS
- Restart your system
-> Download latest Firefox version from one of these links using some other Web Browser:

I went back to 6.0.2 to avoid this problem. It only happens with 7.0.1.
Tried complete reinstall with removal of user data and settings, but still same problem with 7.0.1.
Did you remove the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) to make sure that all possibly leftover files in that folder are removed?
Also do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
