Apologies if I am in the wrong place - cannot find a way to ask a question re Thunderbird Three days ago for no obvious reason, I opened Thunderbird I was asked to enter my password for each of my 4 email addresses. All are with Virgin Media -two have '@ virginmedia.com' and two '@ntlworld.com.

If and when I do find a way to sign in/register I will post my problem there.

Hello Damascus,

I'll flag this thread and ask to move it to Thunderbird support.

Thank you McCoy - most helpful.

Can I use my Firefox sign in details or do I need to register to access forums? But, where is the entry to Thunderbird forums? Cant see it yet. I have gone round in circles with each page coming up 'try these articles'

Wne will I know my Q has been moved and where will I find it? Sorry for the stupid questions. Rgds Damascus

Hello again Damascus,

Those are not stupid questions  !

Maybe for future reference; this is the link you can use to post on the Thunderbird support forum :

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/thunderbird/other

(you'll have to scroll down to the bottom of the page)

But for now : as I have flagged this thread and asked to move this to Thunderbird support - you'll know as soon as you'll get a response to your question. But you're still here on the Firefox support forum, which means that there hasn't been a moderator around yet to move this thread. Once your thread has been moved to the Thunderbird support forum, you won't have to register or sign in again; no worries.

I just checked, and you have now been moved to the Thunderbird support forum.

I'm sure that someone here will soon come to your rescue and give you a proper answer to your question.

Thank you for getting my post moved to the correct forum. I noted that I did not need to sign in or register. I have found my question and will wait for a reply.

Thanks again - I trust I have marked your help etc in an appropriate manner. Rgds Damascus

Yes you have, and you didn't even have to do that; that was very kind of you. I hope that you'll soon get an answer to your question - if it takes too long : "bump" this thread, by posting something like "Can anybody help me ?" Unfortunately this is not my field of expertise; otherwise I would have posted an answer hours ago (so sorry ..... )

I just noticed that you inadvertently marked one of my posts as Chosen Solution ..... You can rectify it by clicking on the   "Undo"  button to the right of that post.

I will now send someone a PM   (= Private Message)   and ask them to come to your rescue .....

Hello again Damascus,

'Just now noticed that this time you marked my last post as Chosen Solution - if this means that one of those links actually solved your problem : that would be great  !

If not : please, let us know, will you ?

Cheers !

I see that the Chosen Solution mark was removed from my post - I guess that means that the problem is not solved then (?).

Hello McCoy Just a quick reply. Re your post timed @ 7am on 26.08.19 - 'In the meantime' I responded twice but neither seems to have stuck in the thread. I am currently in a state of confusion as I am not familiar with how this forum works. I will put in a post with full explanation. I have just returned from a family function and cannot gather my thoughts. In addition when I opened TB I had to re-enter passwords for two email addresses. Up popped a further at least 3 other messages from you all dated 26.08.19. I hope it will not take too long - need a good night's sleep.

I have asked somebody else to come to your rescue, as this is (clearly) not my field of expertise (as I mentioned before).

If it takes too long before you get some proper advice : just "bump" this thread (see one of my earlier posts).

Could be that you inadvertently forgot to click the "Post Reply" button (happens to me sometimes - very frustrating !).

Hello McCoy My apologies for taking up so much of your time. Please do not get anybody else involved - one of your posts had the solution which I did not follow to the letter, under Item 1, tick remember/save password. So I gave it a go.

https://windowsreport.com/thunderbird-keeps-asking-for-password/

I did not tick the box because all the passwords were already recorded in Tools-Options-Security-Saved Passwords.

I did this to all four accounts and for the last 24 hours and so far they have all performed properly when first opening TB and on request to get latest messages. So I am happy your link solved the problem. Now which one shall I mark as Chosen Solution? I think it will have to be your post 08.26.19 @ 12am so I have now marked it as the Chosen Solution.

As you say if I can ignore/miss saving the passwords then I can certainly forget to hit 'post'. I have wondered why suddenly this problem occurred.

Many thanks again for your help and patience.

You marked the correct post - no worries (well done !).
