Why is the new Firefox so incredibly slow and nonresponsive?

A new Firefox downloaded to my Macbook Air (61.0.1). Not only are key elements missing in this new design (where is the line of most visited sites that use to be near the top of the window?), but this thing is slow and nonresponsive. It can take up to a minute to load the home page -- something that used to happen immediately. And there are commands that just don't work at all -- or at least they seem not to work at all.

What did you do? Why is this version so radically different than all the wonderful previous ones? I want to use and support Firefox, but I can't use this one at all.

Basic issue: is this just me, or have many people complained about this? If it's many people, will you fix it?

Well, this was difficult, because a lot of the things that I was supposed to do didn't work (the bookmarks icon in the upper right wouldn't work at all, for example). But hitting the basic refresh finally did get me a new copy that seems to be fine. Thanks for the help. Obviously, my version must have gotten corrupted somehow in the downloading process.

Hi, sorry about that. Should have said that the update must of got corrupted some how and you can do the above or you can do this  : Refresh but Note that this does more than uninstalling and re-installing does. Normal uninstalling does not remove some preferences which may have become corrupt. Please Refresh but do this 1st: Delete your Cookies and Cache and TEST.
