I cannot get Firefox to open on my desktop, every time I try I get the mozglue.dll missing message. I have read several other people with similar problems, but none of the solutions seem to work for me.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox several times. I do not have AVG installed on this computer, I have checked several times and uninstalled anything with AVG in the name. I use Trend Micro Internet Security, it is updated to the latest version. I tried disabling my Trend Micro while reinstalling, it did not help. I tried going to Adobe and downloading the Win 7 flash player for Firefox, it did not help.

Should I download and upgrade AVG even though I don't have it to start with? Does Mozilla have a way I can simply download the missing file (I wouldn't want to download it from another source)? Is there some other way to troubleshoot this missing file that I am missing?

My Firefox version is 50.1.0. My computer is running Windows 7 and is a 64 bit OS.

Let’s do a full clean re-install; Download Firefox For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86)

Mac: Open the "Applications" folder.

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.

Do Not remove the profiles folder.

Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox program folders by adding .old to them. Do not rename the Mozilla Thunderbird folder if there is one.

After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner if you have one. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.
