Cannot live-edit CSS using Inspector

On most websites, when the Firefox CSS/HTML inspector is open, I can make live edits to the CSS and see the changes reflected on the page I'm viewing.

For certain sites, however, this doesn't work. These are sites I work on every day, so I think I must have done something to accidentally disable live editing on these sites.

My colleague who works on the same sites is not having the same problem, so it's limited just to me.

I've tried opening Firefox in Safe Mode to see if any add-ons might be interfering, but I have the same problem in Safe Mode.

Live editing works as expected when using Firebug. Also, I do not have any problems editing the HTML or inline CSS--only when editing the "Rules" as displayed in the sidebar.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, using a new profile didn't solve the problem. Any other ideas?

I have completely uninstalled Firefox, checked the box to remove all data, and reinstalled. Still having the same problem.

If others do not have the problem with the same websites then it sounds that this is an issue on you side.

Did you make sure that the rules that you are changing or adding are being used and have a checkmark next to them?

Does this also (or only) happen if you make the changes in the Style editor?

Hi Cor-el, thanks for your continued help.

In Inspector, these rules are editable, and they do have a checkbox next to them. Strangely, when I edit them in Inspector, a strikethrough appears on them, as though they are being overridden (the strikethrough is not there before I edit them).

In Style Editor, changes to the same rule are applied as expected.
