A couple plug-ins need to be updated. When I click "update now" and download the update, I get a message "Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing this one." I am using Windows 8. There is NOTHING else being downloaded at this time. I have restarted and that doesn't help This has been going on for several days.

The plug-ins that I'm trying to update are QuickTime and Google Earth. I was also unable to update my printer software.

I need simple instructions on how to correct his. I searched and see that this has been a problem for others but can't find a simple fix that isn't way beyond my basic knowledge.

Chosen solution

Figured out the solution on my own. If this should happen to you, I opened Windows Update Troubleshooter (Windows 8), and it corrected the problem in order for me to update all plug-ins. Restarted and all was fine!

hello mpitt, this sounds more like a problem of your operating system - here on a forum specialised on support for the firefox browser we might not be the right people to come up with a solution for this kind of issue...

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
