I have this problem too (Mac Firefox 21) but only when using a custom theme. When using the default Firefox appearance, I can still double-click to minimize Firefox to the dock. I wonder if all the other people who've complained of this problem were also using a custom theme?

Yup, that's it. I just disabled the carbone add-on (shame, I really like the look) and the double click works like a charm.
