Is there a way to delete the safe browsing plugin? It causes google searches to redirect to *.feedclickonline.com/*

Avast will block the connection attempt. The AdBlock Plus plugin will block it too. The injected redirect looks like this:

http ://24.feedclickonline .com/feed?type=search&ua=Firefox&ip=81.51.8.189&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google. com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dcheck%26ie%3Dutf-8%26oe%3Dutf-8%26aq%3Dt%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial%26client%3Dfirefox-a&uu=BuGtLV3nB2gaR6FWhQD9N8TXvsPJjDzF9fggIhLcV1IV5JcMUjJp5Xaw8+dBEp1q4eH3WvLNjvbGE6PYxJUtEKb39Cu50aLAGc1/8BwXVBLzUyNHZ1i4WS0YY9LsDJHDAZggmHBPiEU6yVBzR5sUSWwex/7oEBXPOZYW0dVp+Y4=

The easiest way to delete it and reset all of the preferences it's changed is to use the reset feature.

If you want to go about it manually, see Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page.

Thanks for your reply.

I tried the reset feature, then I tried a complete uninstall. Neither were effective. It's just something to do with the 1 plugin, very annoying problem.

It's a built-in extension, not a 3rd party add-on. It also isn't a toolbar. These suggestions don't help my problem at all.

I had the same problem and (after 2 days of searching to identify the source) simply disabled the extension.

Tools\Add-ons\Extensions, find it and disable it.

Working so far for me!

Unfortunately that is the best solution I've come up with too.

Hi, I had the same problem and solved it. Here's more information:

Thanks! Excellent post. Problem is gone now (reinstalled windows due to other problems) but this will help if it ever comes back!

Just go here C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Application Data and look for a stringed folder and delete it. Make sure Firefox is closed to do this. Also check the extensions.rdf folder in your profile folder. Remove the entry for safe browsing plugin. Voila !Gone!

The ""Mozilla Safe Browsing" add-on is malware Ref: Blocked Add-ons and bug 799266

For more information about malware, see

For anyone who is unable to remove the "Mozilla Safe Browsing" add-on from the Add-ons Extensions list using the solution linked above, simply keep it disabled in the Add-ons Manager, for now.
