I am trying to update my flash player plugin. Since mozilla says it is out of date. I am using firefox version 6.0 on a windows 7 64 bit OS. I follow the adobe normal download and install process. No other applications are running. I go to install the flash update. It initializes then at 50% it says to close mozilla firefox. I close it and it still tells me that mozilla needs to be closed. I go into task manager and mozilla is not running. The flash update will not continue it needs mozilla to close when it is already closed. why? and how do fix this?

Did you look at the Processes tab of the Task Manager for firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe? You need to kill the firefox process and all the plugin-container processes you find.

Yes originally I ended all firefox processes in task manager. But I still had the same issue. I just retried installing it again and looked for the plugin container.exe process. After ending the firefox process and plugin process this solved the issue. The Flash update did complete. Would be nice in the future if firefox mentioned before doing a plugin updates installation to disable all related tasks and background processes before updating. Thanks for the help.
