I edited my Opera browser bookmarks some time ago which resulted in the bookmarks.adr file in use being the one I saved which is in a different folder & not the default. I have copied it to the default folder but Firefox doesn't see the bookmarks to import them. How can I get around this?

Chosen solution

Hello, since I am an Opera user I can very well help you.

Open Bookmarks in Opera using Ctrl+Shift+B. Now select the bookmarks you want to have in Firefox using Ctrl key (If you want all bookmarks press Ctrl + A). Now right-click on any bookmark from the selection, in the context menu click File and then select Export as HTML. Now save the file to any folder to like.

In Firefox, open the bookmarks manager using Ctrl + Shift + B. In the manager toolbar select 'Import and Backup' . In the dropdown choose Import HTML. Once in the Import wizard, select "From an HTML file" and click Next button. Browse for the file you saved when you exported Opera bookmarks.

Does Opera see your edited bookmarks? If not then either of the cases can happen-

1. Wrong editing of your Opera bookmarks.adr file might have happened which causes Opera (and subsequently Firefox Import) to not recognize data inside the file.

2. You might have copied it to wrong folder. You edited bookmarks.adr file must be in -

C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Opera\Opera

user_name stands for your Windows username.

Hi, Thanks for responding. Opera has been my browser since about v5.x My bookmarks are working fine even through the upgrades I've done. The editing I did was a long time back. I tried copying the file to the path you gave me but still no luck. My Opera is v 11.51

Awesome.! I now have all my IE Favourites & my Opera Bookmarks imported. How do I get them sorted? I can't seem to find an option to sort them when I click on Bookmarks. At the moment they are all jumbled & difficult to find what I'm looking for

Oh, I am sorry for that. I am not a Firefox user. But you could read this to get your bookmarks sorted-

https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Sorting%20bookmarks

OR if the above is not what you are looking for, then you could create a new folder under "Bookmarks Menu" in left pane (right-click anything under Bookmarks Menu and click New folder) and cut your from-Opera imported bookmarks from where they and paste them into the new folder. You could do same for IE Favourites.
