I wanted to refresh my weather report and the icon is gone so I went to help and it said to go to Tools...Customize and drag the reload/stop or any other buttons but this one does not exist. I would like to have my old toolbar back. How can I achieve this?

The application below does not work. If this is a sample of the problems with the new firefox, I will go back to my old browser.

Firefox 4 uses a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.
During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button.
If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.
Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.

This answer did not solve my problem as I initially wrote. Your answer states that Firefox 4 uses a combined/Stop?Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar but I do not have this button so how do I get my refresh button back??????

There is no button at the right end of the address bar that looks like a reload button? You could try opening the Customize window and choosing "Restore default set" and see if it reappears. If so, you can drag it to where it used to be, next to the Forward button.

See the image below.

If you want the buttons separated from the URL/Location bar, go to Customize (click Firefox button > Options > Toolbar Layout) and the buttons will show separated from the URL/Location bar as shown in the image. While the Customize window is open:

  • To keep as separate buttons, you must drag them to reverse the order that is shown in the image below (Stop then Reload) or separate them by having another button or a space from the Customize window between them.
  • You can drag the buttons to any other position on the Navigation Toolbar if you wish.

Unfortunately my customize is gone as well. I decided to get rid of Firefox. It's more trouble than it's worth and I don't like all the tabs either. Very frustrating when I didn't even ask for the new Firefox. It's just uploaded and restarted overnight without my permission.

To open Customize in Firefox 4, do one of the following:

  • click Firefox Button > Options > Toolbar Layout
  • To use the Menu Bar, press the ALT key or the F10 key, the Menu Bar will appear, click View > Toolbars > Customize
  • HOLD down the ALT key while pressing the keyboard letters VTC

What about Firefox 6? It seems to be even more obnoxious...clicking on the Firefox button does NOT give me Options. Clicking on Tools gives me Options, but clicking on that Options does not give me Toolbar Layout. Why is it that this new version is makes you jump through hoops just to get back the stuff that was readily available before?

With Windows Firefox, I believe that you can get the menu bar back by pressing the Alt key, pulling down the View menu, and checking "Menu bar".
