After a recent update starting Thunderbird prompted a message asking for permission for TB to make changes to my system. I then reinstalled TB as per advice from this forum which fixed the prompts for permission but a time lag while initiating TB still exists (this started when the prompts started). TB now takes about 20 - 30 secs to start, is this happening to others? Can it be fixed? Thanks Chris

Do you you have language packs installed?

If not, Please start *Windows'* in safe mode with networking enabled win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

  • Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot mode

Does problem go away?

Hi Wayne, I restarted in Safe Mode with Networking and the started Thunderbird in Trouble shoot mode and it started immediately with a message that it could not reach the server. I checked the Add on Manager and all Add Ons were disabled. Restarted Thunderbird normally, logged out & restarted laptop normally. I opened Thunderbird( it opened quickly) and the Add-On manager did not have the message "All Add Ons are disabled". So I don't see that any changes were made but it does seem to have done the trick, looks to be working normally. Thank you Chris
