An incorrect email address for my wife causes problems every time I reply to one of her emails, and the address auto-fills from my address book. I've deleted it from my address book several times, only to have it reappear. I The "bad" email (the syntax contains quotation marks and an extra bracket (><) in the address, causing any email using it as a recipient to immediately generate an error-bounceback upon sending). I'm trying to figure out where it comes from, and how it gets auto-entered back into my address book. I think it originates from a "chat" address, of hers. At least that's where it's showing up in my address book.

Can anybody help me troubleshoot this, and eliminate it?

Did you delete the incorrect address from all address books that autocomplete scans, including Collected Addresses?

@sfhowes, I did. I used the search function in the Address Book, for "All Address Books". If it comes back, I'll have to try figure out which of her devices is sending it, I think.
