Vodafone NZ is closing their email service, They have instructed users to set up Gmail or outlook accounts. I have chosen G mail and my new email address is [email protected]. They have promised to forward all emails to Gmail but I still want to use Thunderbird. How do I set up Thunderbird so that it receives existing clear.net.nz emails and new gmail emails? Thanks

Add another mail account for the new gmail email address. 'Menu icon' > 'New Message' > 'Existing Mail Account'

re :Vodafone NZ is closing their email service If this is an imap mail account, then I would advise you get a copy of all emails and put them into 'Local Folders' mail account. Synchronise folders for offline use to download a complete copy into Thunderbird. In offline mode, check you read emails, if yes then all is ok. Highlight a block of emails and use right click 'Copy to' and select a folder in 'Local Folders'. Why ? Because if they clear the emails off server and you manage to synch with an empty account, you may lose emails.
