Is there a way I can select who I want to send an email to without typing in each name?

When I need to send an email I have to type in the name of each recipient. I want to be able to select the names from a list, including a group name. Also I sometimes want to select a group and then delete one or two names from it, but the individual names do not appear when I select the group.
