RE: Images are not displayed in the message, the email address is set to `allow` in preferences , they are attached instead.

Images that were 'embedded' in the content (not attached), but are only shown as attachments, usually means you are reading the email in Plain Text view.

check you have this setting: 'View' > 'Message Body as ' > 'Original HTML'

more options

thank you for the info but 'View' > 'Message Body as ' > 'Original HTML' is already set to original HTML ...... all i see is the outline box of the images with all white inside the frames

This is an issue with the same sender , other messages are received and displayed with their images

So, you can see the images properly when you open the attachments?

more options

yes the images open and are ok in a image viewer such as gthumb or image viewer

all the images are entitled "mime-attachment.jpg"

can Thunderbird automatically open these files ?
more options

Do you know if the person who sent the emails uses a MAC computer and sends using Mac Mail?

Can you post the source code of the email? select the email so it shows in the Message Pane click on 'More' and select 'View Source.

Copy paste the info into a 'Post a Reply' text box. Edit anything that is sensitive like email addresses with something like a row of XXXXX's.

more options

I can confirm the sender is not using a mac or mac mail

you seem to have not included all of the source code. It shows headers and the plain text section.

However, it only starts to show part of the Content-Type: text/html; section and no mention at all of the image attachments which are usually appended at the end.

could you post the remainder.

I'm sorry to tell you that you have copied the exact same top section and reposted.

Open the View source and only highlight the lower section which starts with: Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

and goes to the end which must include the section regarding the Attachment. The right click and select 'copy' then paste into forum.

thank you for trying to resolve this for me but the system will not allow me to post the required details as it exceeds the character limit for the support system

My particular issue is... i think .not a bug but ... a feature of Thunderbird for Linux

Thanks for your help

Just curious, is View > Display attachments inline checked?

re - View > Display attachments inline

yes this is ticked but seems to have little effect on this issue

I did try `ctrl + i ` also as Evolution allows images to be displayed with this short cut ....but in Thunderbird has a different function

thanks
