I used to have Outlook Express, which had an option to empty all the deleted mail from the trash bin at closing. That's what I'm trying to do.

Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the mail account under Message storage:

  • check the box 'Empty Deleted folder on exit'
  • click on OK to save changes.
