Disable test pilot
I have just noticed test pilot in the list of tools. I never loaded this. I also found that I was on beta channel which I never agreed to either. I have just loaded 23.01 release, but cannot remove test pilot. It doesn't appear in the list of addons so there are no options to delete.
How do I get rid of this unwanted addon?

On my old XP PC, kept for one old application only, I run Firefox 19.0.2 with updates disabled (never check for updates). Yesterday, a request from Test Pilot appeared asking for an update for one of "my studies". Didn't have a clue what that was, so dismissed it. Popped up a couple of times more, so I searched for info and found this page. How did it get into my geriatric non-updated FF? Deleted now.

hello, the firefox beta version doesn't come onto your computer without you explicitly downloading and installing it. please see if there is an entry named test pilot or feedback in firefox < addons > extensions and otherwise try to do a clean reinstall:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
You can find the full version of the latest Firefox 23 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
You need to install a full release version to switch the update channel from Beta to Release. You can't do this via an update or otherwise (the defaults/pref/channel-prefs.js file isn't affected by an update), so you must have installed a beta version in the past to get switched to this update channel.
I went to Control panel and removed Firefox. Kept personal settings.
Then I reloaded 23.01 release version.
I still have test pilot in the tools menu
How do I get rid of test pilot?
could you go to firefox > help > troubleshooting information, copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on...
I have tried but the full page is 30000 characters and there is a limit of 10000
in this case please put it into http://pastebin.mozilla.org/ and copy the resulting link here
The Rest Pilot extension is a standard part of the Firefox Beta version.
Unless you use the un-installer option the "remove all personal data and customizations" (i.e. personal settings) (which deletes your bookmarks, passwords, and such, along with your extensions) you're not going to get rid of Test Pilot by uninstalling Firefox.
Open the Addons Manager > Extensions and use the Remove button on the Test Pilot listing there.
There ISN'T a test pilot listing there BUT it still appears in the tools menu
Thank you
ok, the corresponding extension is labelled "Feedback 1.2.2" - it should be removable without any issues.
Thank you so much
Mission accomplished !!
