Our new Astaro/Sophos Firewall allows me to use "FW-IP:8080/wpad.dat" as auto proxy configuration URL. For the ie it was easy enough to roll that out via *.reg file and login script of our users. But in Firefox, that setting doesn't seem to be in the registry, but in the prefs.js file. Is there a possibility to roll that Setting out via login-script too, or do I have to set that manually on every client? (atm. we're using NetWare (and the login script)) ...

PS: yes, I know, I want to change that away from novell, but that's not gonna be very soon...

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify (new) default values.

Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.

pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the ROT-13 byte-shift

See:

You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:

defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
