synchronization problem

more options

Hello! I have a serious problem. I lost access to my data because I changed my password, so my data is no longer synchronized. I reinstalled my Windows, and I forgot the old password I had on that Windows. As I reinstalled, I decided to change the password because I didn't remember it, but after that I found out that synchronization doesn't work. Please help me, I had very important bookmarks that were there. Thanks in advance!

Sorry to hear about this problem. Did your Windows Reset/Refresh create a folder named

C:\Windows.old

That's a temporary folder for your data if you asked Windows to save it in that process.

If you do see that folder:

Set Windows to show hidden files and folders -- this Microsoft article has the steps:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/view-hidden-files-and-folders-in-windows-97fbc472-c603-9d90-91d0-1166d1d9f4b5

Then explore that folder up to this point (if it exists):

C:\Windows.old\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\

If you find recent data there, please pause and we can suggest how to restore old bookmark backups.

Unfortunately, I did a completely clean install of windows and I don't have that folder. Is there any other way to restore my bookmarks?

Did you ever have another device connected to your Sync account that might still have a copy?

Unfortunately, mobile devices can't export lists of bookmarks, so it would be easier if another desktop/laptop had been connected -- in which case, do not connect to the new account until you backup/export the bookmarks on that system.

No I only had my one computer with firefox installed on it. I just didn't even know I would need confirmation on an already authorized device to sync the data
