I have an add-on , MoreFunctionsForAddressBook installed. One useful thing among others is to edit an existing address "as new" So I have just to edit the part that's different. After install you find it under tools /....... (see image)

I downloaded an addon called categories which I have been using. I see that More functions also has categories. Will it conflict and which is better ?

As well when editing the addressbook and when i am finished and I push the OK key to save, when more functions was not installed it would close the addressbook window. Now that morefunctions is installed, clicking "OK" save the contact but it will not close the window. you must push either cancel or the "X".

I never tried the add-on "categories" so I can't tell. But by exporting as .csv and then when importing into a new address-book you could check if the fields has the same labels in the same order or if you need to rearrange them.

I don't understand whats the problem with exit, When I press ok the edit-window closes, never the addressbook window.

"Edit as new" is also present with a right click on an address.

And you are right it is the edit window that does not close when clicking the OK button.

Try temporarily disabling the other add-ons that may conflict with "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook", and see if the clicking on OK is still a problem. After your edits, disable "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook", and re-enable the others.

I have several add-ons installed, but disabled. I just enable them temporarily when I need them, which isn't often.

I do as Bruce, keep most of them of until I need them. But you need either MFFAB or "Cat" so I suggest you disable "Cat" check if you can do without it. But first Export your addressbook as a safety. Or better do a full backup

Thanks everyone for the help. I shut off Cat and I am trying to work work with MFFAB. It still has its issues but it works. when using CAT I was able to see all my categories list and if I clicked on 1 categoies I could see all that was in it. I could even do a mailmerge to the category. How do you do that in MFFAB ?

Also the addressbook., is there a way to change the layout, to make it more appealing and easier to work with ?

Regarding "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook", I don't know. I've only used it and recommended it for import & export.

You are used to using the other add-on, so I suggest keep using it for what you use it for. Just enable "MoreFunctionsForAddressBook" for the purpose that Gnospen suggested, then disable it again.
