Cannot open https://www.google.com/ or search through firefox searchbar or address bar, always get Secure Connection Failed
Whenever I try to type in anything to the address bar or the search bar on mozilla firefox i get the error attached Secure Connection Failed. also this happens when i try to open https://www.google.com but when opening http://www.google.com or typing google.com only it opens google perfectly fine. also doesn't work with gmail.com because it directs to https://www.google.com/gmail/
Appreciate the help.

By any chance, are you in Egypt? Several users are reporting intermittent problems with Google sites over the past 24 hours. None of them has been solved, although from time to time something seems to help for a short period of time.
when i try to open google i get this error
Secure Connection Failed
i run scan with avast , adware cleaner , Malwarebytes , change dns , flush , rest the router , clear cache , start firefox in safemode
i try the same connection with chrome and it work fine , also with ie
when i use vpn it work fine
"secure connection failed" for google .com:
I am trying to login to some google products like adsense and gmail and i am getting secure connection failed while i still can login to google analytics and productforums
Sometimes i can visit google search and sometimes no, sometimes removing www. from the link works to google search but i doesn't work for adsense link as it auto put the www.
Secure Connection Failed only on google.com using FF:
I can't access google.com or any google search result for about 1 or 2 minutes, then the problem disappear for 5 or 10 minutes and I can access google normally, then the problem occurs again. This problem started two days ago I guess. This problem happens only with google.com and only while using Firefox. I can access google normally using Chrome or IE. I have windows 7 x64 and my Firefox version is 50.1.0.

You can get into Gmail but not search?? That seems like a different behavior from the other threads, but could be part of the intermittent nature of the problem.
Please ignore this comment. Even though you have a Gmail tab, I see from your original post that it's not working.

Hi, Yes I am actually from Egypt. after skimming through the articles there, i think you are correct it might be an issue with our ISP because mostly we share the same ISP here in egypt "TE Data" and google.com.eg works fine as well as other google specified locations like google.co.uk . but what doesn't make sense is that on chrome you can type in https://www.google.com/ and it would work but again on IE for example https://www.google.com/ doesn't work.
I have also tried on my mobile device on firefox and i get the same error. for now I will stick to a workaround for the search you mentioned in earlier posts. Thanks.

In answering your question in fact i can open gmail but only when i type in https://mail.google.com and not gmail.com
I have the same problem and I'm from Egypt, however I use a different ISP which is Etisalat.
Hello,
I'm also from Egypt and spend two days in this with Google only on Firefox and IE only and not on Chrome and Safari until I found this reply from "jscher" and without even visiting his suggested links I only restarted my router and get that fixed. IE and earlier to the router reset was fixed by changing SSL settings under Internet options > Advanced to tick the SSL2 which I have removed it after resting.
Thank you.
