Do you use Avast? Numerous Avast users have reported in recent days that numerous images are missing from Yahoo pages. Here is more information on that issue.

Avast Web Shield There is a recent issue with one of the Web Shield features blocking some images on Yahoo. If you use Avast, you could try switching off scanning HTTPS connections to see whether this is the cause in your case:

  1. Open the Avast dashboard on the affected system.
  2. Select Settings from the left sidebar menu.
  3. Switch to Active Protection.
  4. Click on Customize next to Web Shield.
  5. Uncheck the "Enable HTTPS Scanning" option and click ok

By the way, in your other post, since you used Firefox, the forums created a list of descriptions of your Firefox plugins, and one of them looks a little suspicious: "Maxiget Updater". I think this might be one of those programs that foists unwanted software and add-ons on you. Do you recall installing anything related to Maxiget intentionally?

If you want to have Avast filter your secure connections, there is a way to get Firefox to trust the fake certificates Avast generates when using that feature.

I think on the Avast forum they said Avast should do it at startup (i.e., close Firefox, shut down Windows, restart Windows). If it doesn't happen automatically, there is a manual import process. However, we have too many threads about Avast on this forum so I'm having trouble searching up the steps.

The maxiget updater is in the add ons...you are saying delete that? i didnt intentionally put it there

Hmm, usually if one mystery item is visible, several more are lurking. Here's my suggested procedure for tracking down and cleaning up bad add-ons, hijackers, and ad injectors. I know it seems long, but it's not that bad.

(1) Open the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help in smoking out undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Be suspicious of everything you do not recognize/remember, as malware often uses important or innocent sounding names to discourage you from removing it. Take out as much trash as possible here.

(2) Open Firefox's Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • in the Windows "Run" dialog, type or paste
    firefox.exe "about:addons"

In the left column, click Plugins. Set nonessential and unrecognized plugins to "Never Activate".

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable (or Remove, if possible) unrecognized and unwanted extensions. Bear in mind that all extensions are optional, none come with Firefox, and you can learn more about them by checking their reviews on the Add-ons site.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

(3) You can search for remaining issues with the scanning/cleaning tools listed in our support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

I actually use malware bytes and a full scan runs over 90 mins. It's set to do 2x a week overnite and it works. That was the only odd add on i had and my add ons are always set to ask b4 activating. I would have never found that avast thing...so u are a savior there. I so much apprecite u taking the time to cure my issue.
