worked fine when i started using it. i closed it normally. when i re-started my computer, got the "FF already open, close and try again". deleted parent lock file per instructions. FF now opens but freezes before home page loads. i can't try any of the solutions about safe mode and refresh because a single page won't load. i've installed and reinstalled and rebooted. no change. i'm using IE now to get help. and the "automatically add" file below isn't working.

I seem to have fixed the problem: I uninstalled 38 and deleted all the mozilla folders on my drive (app data, local settings and program files) -- there was a surprising amount of files for having uninstalled it. i installed 28 and it worked. i copied the files in the working profile from my old computer into the new profile and it works -- booksmarks are all there agin. so it looks to me like the problem was in a folder other than docs & settings/app data profiles. Any guesses?
