I recently had a problem with WinXP. It lost my profile. I had to create a new username and reinstall Firefox. I used this new profile Firefox created for about 3 or 4 weeks until my system totally crashed. I was able to backup both profiles for Firefox. I reformatted my system and reinstalled XP. I then installed Firefox. I still have both profiles on an external drive. Is it possible to import the bookmarks and or password from both profiles into the one profile I now have for Firefox? I just installed Firefox VER 3.6.15 on my system until the problem with 4 is rectified.

You need to import an HTML backup if you want to merge bookmarks.
So if you do not have an HTML backup then you need to export the current bookmarks to an HTML file and then restore the JSON backup to get the other bookmarks

Another possibility is to use a second profile and open both profiles at the same time.
Then you can restore the JSON backup or places.sqlite in that other profile and do a copy and paste from the Library in one profile to the other profile.
Both profiles need to be open at the same time to do that, so you need to start the second instance of Firefox with the -no-remote command line switch.

I thank you for your quick response. I'll look into this over the weekend and let you know how I made out with this.
