Ever since I changed from Firefox 3.6 to Firefox 4.0 on one site in particular yahoo, I keep getting

Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I disabled all my plugins to see if this would fix the problem I still get this. Ive cleared my cache, history, etc also.

This works but it is very obtrusive to do so every time I go to a website that this happens with. There must be something else that works.

Such issues can be caused by security software that has made changes to the response headers that confuses Firefox.
If it happens often the you can check that.

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.
