I have add-on: questbrowser that I can not uninstall, only disable. There is no record of how it got there. How do I remove it?

Checking my Add-ons I saw an unfamiliar one: QuestBrowser that was enable. I try to uninstall it but the button did not respond, so I click on disable that it did work. However, there is no way to removed. I have no recollection of ever installing it. I search about questbrowser and found its an add spyware. I found files in my Pc and I was able to remove them. But my Firefox add-on history still shows it.

This program is likely to be listed in the Windows control panel.

  • From the Start menu, select Control Panel
  • Open the list of installed programs:
    • If in icon view, click Programs and Features
    • If in category view, under "Programs", click Uninstall a program
  • In the list of programs select QuestBrowser, and then click Uninstall.

I was able to remove any trace of questbroswer. What I cannot do is remove the entry in Firefox's Add-Ons history

It is likely to be an entry in the registry. If you are happy with editing the registry, see the section "Windows Registry extension" at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_add-ons

New information: I had the add-on in my work PC and I was able to uninstall it. I believe in my other PC at home, my anti-virus found questbrowser 1st and remove it. That is why I cannot do it from Firefox. At least, that is what I think happened.

Thanks Tony, I'll try editing the registry.
