Hello:

I must use the magnifier that came with Windows or I cannot read the screen. All was fine until Firefox updated. Now, when I try to use the magnifier, Firefox and all the sites I am using freeze. The entire screen fades out, and an hour glass shows up. But nothing happens after that. I have to go to the task manager and close Firefox, then start it up again.

I checked for Windows updates and everything is current. I am using Windows 10.

How can I fix this?

Does it still happen in Troubleshoot Mode?

You might not need the magnifier if you increase the scale of Windows or use Firefox's built-in zoom.

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Here is what I found. You asked for five, but there were only four.

Zeroknight:

Thanks for telling me about the magnifier in Firefox. I installed it, and it worked the first time I used it. Now it turns on (turns red) but does nothing. Also, if I switch tabs it turns itself off. I'll have to figure out what I am doing or not doing.

As for troubleshoot, I'll get back to you on that.

Thanks, Zeroknight. I have no problems when I open in troubleshoot mode. Perhaps I need to open in troubleshoot mode all the time, except I shouldn't have to.The Firefox magnifier will work in a pinch, but IMO the Windows app fits my needs better.

Updating your graphics drivers might fix it, otherwise you can disable hardware acceleration.

Zeroknight: since I took your advice the problem has not occurred. I'm going to mark this discussion "solved" but with my luck as soon as I do the problem will reoccur. :-/

Thanks again.
