I don't want to sync 2 email addresses but Google Play on Android phone seems to require it.

I don't want to sync email addresses on laptop and Android mobile but have a separate email address on each (Tiscali through Thunderbird on laptop, gmail on Android mobile.) Everything is about synchronising, which is better for Google but would swamp my phone. Any suggestions to resist synchronisation welcome, thank you. (I'm just a personal user re skills level.)

I do not understand. I understand sync'ing one address, but not two. Please share more info.

Sorry, I'll put it differently - I want to keep emails coming into my Android mobile to those from a little-used gmail account, not feed in also all the emails from my main busy Tiscali via Thunderbird account to my laptop. But using apps on GooglePlay on Android mobile that I've first signed up to on laptop with Tiscali (via Thunderbird) seems to require it (because it's all grist to Google's mill I guess.) Can I preserve separation between my mobile and laptop devices email addresses? thanks

You should be able to. But like David I am somewhat confused. Perhaps you need to talk about exactly what apps you are using and why you think some sort of syncing is required.

Basically you need to bring us up to speed with your understanding of what is happening.

REPLY TO MATT:

Thanks can you say how you would preserve separation between the two different email accounts, one each on laptop or Android mobile? I've tried to by installing a new gmail account on the mobile but my Google account is older and in the laptop email addres, and it's logic that associating the mobile gmail account with my Google account which is automatic means my mobile will be flooded with emails from the pre-existing email account unless I prevent it. That's what I'm asking for thank you.

It may help if you provide some specifics. For example, if the email account on laptop is xxxx@gmail and the email on phone is yyyy@gmail, they will not overlap their messages. The xxxx messages will appear on laptop and the yyyy messages will appear on phone. Some more info may help here.
