My Thunderbird auto-updated to 68.4. Folders and accounts disappeared
Yesterday my Thunderbird auto-updated from 60 to a 68 version. When it opened I couldn't see mail accounts and folders on the left part of the screen. But when clicking on the arrow near 'Get messages' button, the list of my accounts appears. And also mail notifications appear.
Moreover clicking on tools > account settings and on tools > options, nothing happens
I tried to follow some online tutorial, but... nothing to do
I now have Thunderbird 68.4.1 64-bit on windows 10
Thank you for the support

Thanks for feeback. I was about to mention that there is a bug where for some unknown reason, in a few cases, the profile does not appear to show after an update from 60 to 68. Removing the 'global-messages-db.sqlite' file from profile helps Thunderbird to load correctly and the database will get repopulated.

Solved it by rebuilding the Global database https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/rebuilding-global-database

I have spent hours over this problem, so pleased to find there is an answer, not only that, it works!
Thank you for this post. My problem does look like the one GIAC posted including the way my thunderbird is starting. However, I am sorry to say that the removal of the global-messages-db.sqlite file did not solve my problem yet. At the end, the symptoms does show the same as GIAC's screenshot. After removal of the global-messages-db.sqlite, in the activity I do see the message databases being build up. However, after the last database being restored, I still do not see the maps appear in the main page. In the search function I can search the messages. The whole story seems to align with the last windows update KB4551762 on March 12th.
Is there any further way to resolve this?

basrietkerk Did you close/exit Thunderbird first and then delete the global-messages-db.sqlite file and then restart Thunderbird ? If no, then it will not work. Exit Thunderbird before deleting the file.
