I don't want videos playing in the background after I exit firefox

My problem: When I watch a video on my phone, it is because I am interested by the video content. If I switch to another app, I don't want the video to keep running in the background, because I am interested in the video and I can no longer see the images, defeating the purpose.

Thank you When I see that this happened, I have to go back to Firefox, rewind the video, pause it, then go back to whatever I had to do. I understand that most people are using Firefox to listen to music video, but that's not really what Firefox or Youtube are for... Is there a way to disable that behavior? If I exit Firefox, I want Firefox to stop.

And on top of that it drains the battery and my data for nothing.

Just clear the cache and that should solve the issues

If I may add, this is sneaky on the nytimes where all videos start muted and play forever. I find myself with no battery all the time. This is a serious problem, makes nytimes unusable.

Doesn't for me. But it doesn't happen in private mode, or at least could not reproduce. So I am confused.

The parent poster did not understand the question, this is a feature from Firefox, not a bug

This is not a cache problem, this is a feature of Firefox that is draining my battery for no reason

Hi

Thank you for your question. Have you tried to see if this happens in Firefox Preview? This is our newer Android browser that has been rebuilt and may handle this issue differently.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your suggestion. In preview nyt videos start unmuted which is enough to defuse the battery drain problem. I would still like better preventing video autoplay once and for all but it make the issue an annoyance rather than a battery killer.
