While trying to eliminate a problem of duplicate files on my PC I noticed in CCleaner add/remove programs that two versions of TB exist, one 52.6.0 and another 52.8.0 and another called Mozilla Maintenance Service, should I remove the version 52.6.0, and what is the Mozilla Maintenance Service, I have never seen this "mozilla maintenance service" 1. Can and should I remove the older version? 2. Where do I find maintenance service?

The duplicate file problem and slow response from Thunderbird started about the same time. I also checked Windows Add/Remove programs and only one version shows there, 52.8.0, so CCleaner may just be showing junk left behind after the update, think I should remove the 52.6.0 with CCleaner?

God bless Thank you James

re CCLeaner I would not allow CCleaner to have any access to scanning any Thunderbird folder as it can delete required files such as password etc. It causes quite a few issues when it is allowed to scan any Thunderbird folder.

I have checked my 'Control Panel' > 'Programs and Features' I recently updated to 52.8.0 I only have the one version.

Do not uninstall 'Mozilla Maintenance Service' .

Access 'Control Panel' > 'Programs and Features' select the 52.6.0 version and click on 'uninstall'

If both versions end up getting deleted then simply download fresh version from here: Choose prefered language and correct OS download. https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/

That was easy, Thanks to all who helped, hope this answers my two questions, removing oldest of two TB versions and what was the maintenance -service for, now if I could find out how to remove the thousands of duplicate files that have been added to my computer, I will post a jpg of the effect in Thunderbird, hope someone knows how, I will also post in the regular TB questions area, again thanks to all, if I missed someone please let me know. God bless James
